Wind spinners are popular, see how to make large wind spinners for your garden or balcony! But a wind spinner, or spiral, works well also in a smaller size. They are great for Christmas tree decorations. Crochet them in Christmas colors or use just white for an icicle.

The spiral is created by increasing stitches all the time.

Both the written instructions and the video explain how to do a mini wind spinner with either two or three rows.

You can make the mini wind spinner in many different lengths. In the photo with three ornaments each is a different size. After chaining, attach stitch marker in the stitch below the hook.

Row 1. Slip stitch in the second st from hook. 2 sc in the next st and in all sts of the chain until 1 ch st left. Sl st in the last stitch. Cut yarn.

Row 2. Join a different colour yarn at the end that has the stitch marker. Ch1, (2 sc in next st) twice, 2 hdc in next st and in all sts until 3 sts left at the end of the row. (2 sc in next st) twice, sl st. Cut yarn.

(Optional if you want a wider wind spinner) Row 3. Join a different colour yarn at the end that has the stitch marker. Ch1, (2 sc in next st) twice, (2 hdc in next st) twice, (2 dc in next st, ch1) repeat until 5 sts left at the end of the row. (2 hdc in next st) twice, (2 sc in next st) twice, sl st. Cut yarn.

Last row (the same whether you made 2 or 3 rows)  Join glitter yarn at the end that has the stitch marker. Ch 1, sc in the back loop of every stitch across.

Fasten off and weave in all ends. Add a hanging loop. Shape the ornament so that the spiral is even.
